Visual Guide: Converting Proxy to Full VPN Mode in WhiteDNS Desktop
Step-by-step instructions for activating Full VPN / TUN mode in Windows, understanding Proxy vs VPN, granting Administrator rights, importing resolvers, and real-time latency monitoring in v1.4.9.
Why Use Full VPN (TUN) Mode on Windows?
While proxy mode only directs applications that support manual proxy configuration (like web browsers), Full VPN (TUN) mode creates a virtual network adapter that routes all Windows traffic — including games, system updates, and desktop apps — through the DNS tunnel.
Enabling TUN Mode in WhiteDNS Desktop v1.4.9
- Right-click the WhiteDNS Desktop icon and select Run as Administrator (required to install the WinTUN driver).
- Open the Settings tab and toggle Mode from System Proxy to TUN / Full VPN.
- Select your verified tunnel profile and start the connection.
- Verify system connection by opening Command Prompt and running
pingor checking your public IP.
