Comprehensive WhiteDNS Android Setup Guide: From Zero to Connected (v1.6.12)
A step-by-step visual tutorial for WhiteDNS on Android; importing configs via QR and URI links, configuring CottenDNS, Soar and StormDNS engines, managing resolvers, Proxy vs Full VPN mode, and troubleshooting common connection errors.
Introduction to WhiteDNS Android
WhiteDNS on Android is a specialized client designed to tunnel network traffic through recursive DNS requests. This guide explains how to properly install, import profiles, and optimize resolver performance on Android devices running Android 7.0 through Android 15.
Step 1: Downloading & Installing the Clean APK
Always verify you are installing the authentic package directly from the official GitHub repository. Avoid modified builds from unverified third-party channels.
- For modern 64-bit phones (most devices since 2018): Download the
arm64-v8aAPK. - For older 32-bit devices: Download the
armeabi-v7aAPK. - Universal APK works on all devices but has a slightly larger file size.
Step 2: Importing Profiles (Soar & CottenDNS)
- Open WhiteDNS and tap the + button at the top corner.
- Choose Import from Clipboard if you copied a
soar://orcottendns://link from our Telegram Feed. - Or select Scan QR Code to import directly from a screen or another device.
Step 3: Selecting and Benchmarking Resolvers
The speed and reliability of DNS tunneling depends entirely on the resolver selected. WhiteDNS includes a built-in resolver testing tool:
Proxy Mode vs. Full VPN Mode
In WhiteDNS Android settings, you can choose between two modes:
- Full VPN Mode (TUN): Routes all phone apps (browsers, Telegram, Instagram) through the tunnel. Requires Android VPN system permission.
- Proxy Mode: Exposes a local SOCKS5/HTTP port (default
127.0.0.1:10808) so you can configure specific applications without tunneling your entire system.
